CBT is based on the following principles: psychological problems are due to a combination of unhelpful ways of thinking and ineffective behaviors. Treatment using CBT often includes education about the condition/challenge you are facing, identifying strengths and areas for improvement in your current coping strategies and learning/practice specific techniques such as relaxation, stress management and cognitive challenging.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy focuses on teaching people strategies to help cope with significant distress, to build hope and optimism in life and to become more effective in relationships. DBT focuses on four key areas: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness.

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

MBSR is a revolutionary approach to changing your view, and your reaction to, distress and discomfort. By strengthening your attention and raising your awareness of your automatic-reactions, you can change your relationship with your mind and your body - increasing intentionality to your actions.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is an action-oriented approach that that utilizes mindfulness, acceptance and change strategies. Clients utilizing ACT learn to stop avoiding, denying or unnecessarily struggling with emotions and find better strategies to achieve a values-consistent life. Treatment using ACT typically focuses on clarifying your values, building curious awareness of the current moment and identifying/overcoming barriers to values-consistent growth and progress.
